These two things are not secret: we love Negronis and we're obsessed with Ghia, a bitter aperitif inspired by the Mediterranean. The simple format of a Negroni is ripe for creating variations, and so, without further ado, we present the Ghiagroni. Juicy, fresh, and bitter, this is the perfect cocktail for Aperitivo hour.
Ghiagroni (Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Recipe)
Non-Alcoholic Cocktail / Low-Alcohol / Zero Proof / Mocktail
1 ounce Monday Zero Alcohol Gin
1 ounce Lyre's Aperitif Rosso
1 ounce Ghia Aperitivo
1/2 ounce orange simple syrup (see recipe below)
1/4 ounce lemon juice, fresh
2 full droppers All The Bitter Orange bitters
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake briefly (just long enough to chill but not overdilute).
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with an orange twist, first expressing the oils over the drink.
ORANGE SIMPLE SYRUP RECIPE
Combine 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan. Add the juice from 1 orange and the peels from 4 oranges. Bring to a light simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, strain, and bottle. Orange simple syrup will last in the fridge for a month and makes a great triple sec replacement.
MAKE IT YOUR WAY
We think that Monday's non-alcoholic gin and Lyre's sweet vermouth are absolutely perfect in this recipe, but feel free to use your favorite spirit alternatives here in their place.
MAKE IT MINDFULLY LOW ALCOHOL
Swap out either the non-alcoholic gin or sweet vermouth for 1 ounce of the regular stuff. It's that easy!
