Recipe Note
ABOUT THE
COFFEE OLD FASHIONED
A modern riff on the original whiskey cocktail, this drink swaps the
traditional sugar cube for maple syrup and adds cold brew for a bold, roasted
kick. Think of it as a mash-up of an Old Fashioned and an after-dinner coffee.
AVOIDING WATERY NON-ALCOHOLIC COCKTAILS
Because non-alcoholic spirits are often lighter in texture than their boozy counterparts, too much melted ice can make a drink taste weak or watery. When making cocktails that are traditionally stirred with ice, keep your bottles refrigerated so the spirits start cold, reducing the need to stir with ice in the first place. When serving on the rocks, build the drink directly in the glass you’ll serve it in, add ice (preferably one large cube), and stir for 10–15 seconds—just enough to reach the ideal temperature without overly diluting the cocktail.
THE
COFFEE FACTOR
Cold brew concentrate makes an excellent non-alcoholic cocktail ingredient:
it’s loaded with flavor, bitterness, and aromatic complexity, all while adding
body and texture. It also contributes a functional element—energy and
stimulation—replacing the function of alcohol.
COCKTAIL
BITTERS IN NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS
Cocktail bitters provide depth and balance, rounding out sweet and bitter
flavors while adding bite. Since All The Bitter is completely 0% ABV
(unlike traditional bitters, which are around 45% alcohol), you can use as much
as you like to dial in flavor and complexity without affecting the ABV of your
drink.
