Kinda sorta like a Manhattan—but with tequila and no alcohol (huh?)—our original cocktail El Guadalajara blends the non-alcoholic Free Spirits Tequila and The Pathfinder for a smoky, herbaceous, and bittersweet zero-proof sipper. A touch of agave nectar balances the heat and bitterness while our Orange Cardamom and Coffee & Cherry bitters add layered spice and richness. The result is a non-alcoholic Manhattan riff with the spirit of tequila—bold, aromatic, and every bit as satisfying as its boozy cousin.

This recipe was perfected using Free Spirits Tequila and The Pathfinder, but feel free to use your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic spirits instead.

Ingredients

1 ¾ oz Free Spirits Tequila
¾ oz The Pathfinder
¼ oz agave nectar
2 dashes ATB Orange Cardamom Bitters
3 dashes ATB Coffee & Cherry Bitters

Directions

Keep non-alcoholic spirits refrigerated.
Combine pre-chilled spirits with bitters and agave nectar in a mixing glass and stir to blend (without ice).
Pour into a frozen coupe glass and garnish with an orange twist.

ABOUT EL GUADALAJARA
Our original non-alcoholic cocktail, El Guadalajara, is inspired by the balance of a classic Manhattan but trades whiskey for tequila and vermouth for amaro (in this case, Pathfinder). The result is something like a tequila Black Manhattan—rich, bittersweet, and perfectly structured.

WHY THE PATHFINDER?
With its bittersweet flavor, viscosity, and botanical depth, The Pathfinder adds body and balance to non-alcoholic cocktails—especially spirit-forward ones like this.

A NOTE ON DILUTION
Because non-alcoholic spirits are often lighter in texture than their boozy counterparts, too much melted ice can make a drink taste weak or watery. For cocktails that are traditionally stirred with ice, keep your bottles refrigerated so the spirits start cold, eliminating the need for ice during mixing. When serving up, combine the chilled spirits in a mixing glass without ice, stir to blend, and strain into a frozen coupe for a crisp, concentrated result. If serving on the rocks instead, build the drink directly in the serving glass, add one large ice cube, and stir just enough to chill without watering it down.

BITTERS IN NON-ALCOHOLIC COCKTAILS
Cocktail bitters provide depth and balance, rounding out sweet and sour flavors while adding bite. Since All The Bitter is completely 0% ABV (unlike traditional bitters, which are around 45% alcohol), you can use as much as you like to dial in flavor and complexity without affecting the ABV of your drink.
